The legendary broadcaster Weeshie Fogarty is a gentleman and a consummate professional. I was so delighted to be invited to do an interview with him on his radio programme Terrace Talk on Kerry Radio before Christmas. It was very special as my dad Donie was ill at the time and he was given a great boost when the programme aired and he subsequently had many well wishers contacting him.

Weeshie put me totally at my ease and we chatted about some of my childhood memories growing up in a fanatical GAA household in Kerry during which my Dad was, at various times, chairperson of the local Dr. Croke's team, a Kerry County Board delegate, the trainer of the East Kerry team that won the first all-Ireland club championship in 1972. He was also a selector of the famous Kerry football team in the late 70s. Weeshie and I even had a few minutes to discuss the publication of Sweaters and Small Stuff!

You can listen to the podcast of the programme that aired on December 15th last at https://www.radiokerry.ie/terracetalk/
